Chamomile

latin name: Matricaria chamomilla

Chamomile has been used as an herbal remedy since the time of Hippocrates, the father of medicine, in 500 BC. Chamomile is a sweet nervine that has a calming effect on the nervous and digestive systems. It is anti-inflammatory and mildly sedative - a very common herb for anti-anxiety and promoting deep sleep. It has antiseptic properties and is used topically in washes for skin, eyes and mouth. We love this herb in teas to bring a sense of well being and to lighten the spirit.
